To get started adding a new post, find the Post menu in the WordPress Dashboard Navigation menu. Click Add new.
Add the title of the post, Note: Now that your permalinks are set up, the title of your post will also be your post URL but you can edit this in the permalink area of the post.
Next, add some content.
Click the “Add Media Button” to add photos
- Categories – The general topic the post can be classified in. Generally, bloggers have 7-10 categories for their content. Readers can browse specific categories to see all posts in the category. To add a new category, click the “+Add New Category” link in this section. You can manage your categories by going to Administration Panels > Posts > Categories.
Post Tags – Refers to micro-categories for your blog, similar to including index entries for a page. Posts with similar tags are linked together when a user clicks one of the tags. Tags have to be enabled with the right code in your theme for them to appear in your post. Add new tags to the post by typing the tag into the box and clicking “Add”.
Preview button allows you to view the post before officially publishing it.
Layout Settings – Allows you to choose how you want the post to look like, can be you default layout or you can pick one of the ones offered (this is a Genesis feature)
Featured Image – This allows you to choose what image is shown on your home page (if you have the summary option selected)
jQuery Pin It Button for Images Settings – If you have this plugin installed you can choose what post display the “Pin It” button
Sharing – If you have the Jetpack plugin installed you can choose what post display the sharing buttons at the bottom on the post.
When you’re ready to publish, you can either publish immediately, save this or a draft, or schedule the post to be published later. You can also make this password protected, say if you have a post only members can see or only certain people you want to see this post.
