As I explain in the last lesson, WordPress is known as the most popular blogging platform and content management system. Installation of WordPress is so easy since most hosting companies allow you to install WordPress in just a few clicks and will take less than 5 minutes. In this lesson it’s my goal to teach you how to install WordPress.
Login to your cpanel (control panel) using the login info that was send in your welcome emails from your host company (all companies do this) … easy access to you cpanel is domain.com/cpanel (just replace domain.com with your domain). I will be teaching you how to install WordPress into your StableHost account but most hosting companies will be a similar process.
Once you have successfully logged in scroll down to the bottom where you see “Softaculous Apps Installer” and click “WordPress” … Other hosting companies like, HostGator, will have something called “1 click installer”.
Once you are on the next page, click “Install Now”
Okay so here is where you need to pay attention. On the “Directory” line you will need to remove what is there (or make sure it is blank) other wise your site will look like domain.com/wp (WP would be what is in this section). For your Site Name and Site Description enter what your site name and slogan is, don’t worry you can always change it later.
Next area. For the Admin Username select a username that is unique to you and DO NOT use ADMIN as your username unless you want your site hacked and taken down (or even worse redirects to xxx sites, yea it happens!). Pick a strong password, use a password generator like http://passwordsgenerator.net/. Add your email and click install!
Now you have installed WordPress, YES it was that simple! You will get an email when installation is complete as well as the installation page. Now login to your site dashboard, its domain.com/wp-admin (change domain.com to your domain) and login using in username/password from above.
